Riso was founded in Tokyo, Japan, in 1946 by Noboru Hayama to provide mimograph printing services. Riso taught and released an emulsion ink called "Riso Ink" in 1954. Riso produced and launched the mimograph printing machine named "RISO-GRAPH" in 1958. Riso launched its home and office printers in the late 1970s.
